This will simply be regarded as spamming and could result in negative consequences.

4. Lastly, the most important point, PATIENCE.

To recap, provided you follow the basic steps and have the patience, your site will climb up the ranks steadily. Link building will help improve your ranks but be careful because it can also harm your visibility if used in the wrong way i.e. obtaining too many links from non-related websites.

I’ve been doing SEO for a very long time now so I thought of helping webmasters with a very common issue. The problem is that most webmasters see their site jumping in and out of the index. Today you check and your website is in the index. Next day you wake up in the morning and guess what, your website is no longer there. So why does this happen?

You are not giving spiders what they want.

A similar thing happens when sometimes you are ranked on page three for a keyword, then you go back to page nine, then again to page three and so forth. Your rankings sort of play around, you never know where your website really ranks.

In both cases above, one very common thing is happening which I refer to as spibalance.

Just like a balance calculates which side has the largest weight so do spiders. The balance in our case has your website on one side and what spiders require in order to index your website on the other side. When you give them enough of what they need the side with your website on goes down. In other words you get indexed.

If you do not give spiders what they want, the balance will remain neutral and you do not get indexed. So what is that they want to index your website?

It is backlinks.

Now at first you start getting backlinks bit by bit, so the balance starts moving from side to side, sometimes you hit the target and you get indexed. But then again you get de indexed until you have completely out weighed the spiders requirements to index you. Think of the requirements as lots of backlinks located on the other side of the balance.

This same thing does apply to your rankings as well.

But instead of just backlinks, there are other factors that you need to give spiders in order to get the rankings and keep your position. Then improving as well your rankings. In this case the requirements to improve your rankings may increase as well, depends on what your competitors are doing. If you are going to outrank them, you need to get more links then they are getting. Aim to do better then what they are doing because on the balance spiders requirements most often are exactly what the websites that are in the number one position have.

This means the number of links, the quality, the anchor text they use and so forth.

To get indexed for example you do not need to worry about what anchor text to use.

However understand the concept, give the spiders what they want and remember when this happens it is because you are on a spibalance. You learn how many backlinks is enough by experience. Usually doing article submission to a hundred websites is enough. Directory submission is less powerful so you may want to do more submissions than just a hundred, probably a thousand.

Article submission can be done using software. This should be done on regular basis, because it is not just good to get indexed but also to improve your rankings.

This is easy, the bottom line is the more backlinks you get the better. Then it depends on you and the amount of work you can do.

Well writing SEO articles is one of those facts. The Internet has given many people the desire to become rich overnight. We join blogs we submit articles and then we wait. Well let me tell you folks nothing is that easy. How do you control millions or billions of people and get them to do what you want? Well this is the question faced by world leaders.

The answer however is as old as humanity itself and had been effectively used over millennia to bring us to the point we currently find ourselves now in human history.

The scenario goes like this.

You want the populace to take action A but you know that A will not be readily accepted by them.

So you create a crisis B that creates fear in the populace and which causes it to demand from you a quick resolution.

Now action A is a potential albeit undesirable solution to crisis B.

In the midst of crisis B however the deeper fear of not surviving it makes any solution more tenable, even action A which under different circumstances no one would want.

So here we are, we have a frightened population demanding the resolution of crisis B and demanding anything that will make it feel a sense of greater peace.

Well action A “will” bring greater peace in the midst of crisis B and so when it is brought out as a potential solution it will more likely be accepted, won’t it?

Interestingly after the crisis is passed the action taken by the populace will start to feel more acceptable to it.

After all they all agreed to it, have now experienced it and have as a result become desensitized to its negative undesirable effects.

It is important for me to clarify the latter comment.

When an individual experiences a negative event after some time the pain of the event must become suppressed deep within their mind and body in order for them to go on functioning. If it were not they would continuously experience the pain of the event in their consciousness and this would make it impossible for them to function.

This suppression is the mechanism by which an individual becomes desensitized to a traumatic event they have experienced.

Well returning to our scenario both crisis B and the imposition of an undesirable action A are essentially traumatic to the individuals experiencing them. Hence they over time become desensitized to both A and B.

What does this mean? Well it means that over time the populace will no longer be able to feel the undesirable qualities of the imposed action A on them and hence they will continue to live with it, perhaps even believing that it is somehow necessary for their survival.

If you look around you in your life you’ll recognize how often this scenario is being used.

All you have to do is consider a current crisis in the world and ask yourself:

1. How does this crisis affect me?

2. What solutions are being proposed to deal with this crisis that under normal circumstances I would never wish on my worst enemy?

3. To what extent do I feel swayed to accept such solutions now in the midst of the crisis?

As you do this I think you will start to recognize the extent to which you are being seduced into doing things that go against your true nature.

It begins at a young age. Our children are taught how to express themselves but not how to educate themselves. And because no one listens, they don’t have anything of value to communicate when they do their speaking and writing, so their audience accords them even less attention. It’s a vicious circle.

Attentive listening is a completely learnable skill, luckily. It has been said that you are one skill away from doubling your income, maybe this is the missing piece of the puzzle that you have been looking for.

An easy way to learn all of the elements of attentive listening is found in the word LISTEN.

L stands for Like. You can find something to like about anyone, if you try hard enough. But even if they are absolutely devoid of any redeeming qualities, if they are a real dirty, rotten scoundrel, you can use one of my favorite tricks: Like the fact that he has money in his pocket that will soon become money in YOUR pocket, if you’ll just keep on listening.

I stands for Interest. You can show interest in either the person or the content, but be sure to show interest. It is extremely flattering and compelling to totally concentrate on the other person. Nothing will endear you so much as will giving them an opportunity to express themselves.

S stands for See. Lean forward and face the other person directly; not at an angle. Look at their face, at their eyes. If this makes you uncomfortable, look at the bridge of their nose. (Discomfort when meeting someone’s gaze is a sign of low self-esteem. Work on developing your competence by increasing your skills and your confidence will take care of itself, as a matter of course.)

T stands for Touch. Not physical contact, but emotional. One of the greatest causes of unhappiness is the absence of caring. By establishing emotional contact, you create a happy atmosphere, which benefits everyone.

E stands for Engage. Don’t simply sit there staring at the speaker. Ask open-ended questions that can’t be answered with a simple “yes” or “no.” Open-ended questions encourage your conversation partners to expand on their thoughts, which grants you a much deeper understanding of their situation.

N stands for Need. Act like you have a desperate need to hear what they are saying. You need to display the same interest as you would if they were an oracle who was pronouncing the winning lottery numbers. Give them your close, uninterrupted attention.

There are tremendous benefits to those who make the effort to master active listening. The tangible compensation is obvious; money and material goods will rapidly come your way. Intangible benefits are also there as a rewards, feelings of happiness, self-esteem, and fulfillment.
